Rockville is within a well developed transportation network of roads and rail. The major road running through the city is Rockville Pike (Maryland Route 355), which runs in the north-south directions. Additionally, Interstate 270 runs through Rockville, and connects to Interstate 370 north of the city, and Interstate 495 (Capital Beltway) south of the city. The Rockville and Twinbrook stations are located along Washington Metro’s Red Line, which runs to Washington D.C.’s Metro Center and Union Station. Rockville Station is also served by MARC trains along the Brunswick Line, a commute rail line that leads to Washington D.C. Union Station. Additionally, Rockville Station receives service along Amtrak’s Capitol Limited line, an intercity rail line which runs to cities such as Pittsburgh and Chicago. Speaking of sports, The Rockville Express is an amateur, wooden-bat baseball team based in the Montgomery College Rockville Campus. Most of the players are drawn from the college ranks, and the team is a member of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Collegiate Baseball League. |
